The Oregon white oak tree that stands between the school and the covered play area is much beloved by our community. However, the district recently had the tree evaluated by two independent arborists. Both specialists indicated that the tree is in poor health, due to significant carpenter worm damage, and presents a risk to our community. Due to the potential risk to students, staff and the community, the tree will be removed over winter break.

We know how much this tree has meant to the community over the years. We’re planning on saving some remnants of the tree, and we’re looking for your ideas on how you’d like those remnants incorporated in our school.

What ideas do you have to commemorate the tree?

Turn it into beautiful hardwood benches for the playground and around the school. Happy to donate design time to the effort if needed!
