Highland Highlanders
Any person who lives in mountainous or hilly terrain. A brave, strong character, similar to a viking.
Update April 4: Students, staff and community members had the opportunity to reimagine Highland Park Middle School's possible new logo and colors. Participants submitted ideas and completed a survey. The results of the survey are located on the right under Survey Results.
Original project:
Highland Park Middle School was opened in 1965 and has been home to the "Raiders." As Maya Angelou once said, "When you know better, you do better," and we are better than our current mascot. A raider is a person who attacks in order to steal, or someone who engages in hostile acts, and we know our Highland Park community is filled with people who are kind, respectful and encouraging. Therefore, it's time for us to reimagine our mascot and logo. As we get close to our 60th anniversary, we'd love to have your input to help create a new vision of who we are and where we want to go.
What ideas do you have for a new mascot?
Any person who lives in mountainous or hilly terrain. A brave, strong character, similar to a viking.
Google say Huskies are, “intelligent, playful and very friendly. They are known for their good nature as well as their love of people and they make loyal companions.”
Hawks are strong and powerful and are local to the area.
Adorable and regal
"It is a large bird, with a slate-gray body, chestnut and black accents, and very long legs and an "S"-shaped neck. Great Blue Herons are very tall and stand 38-54 inches (97-137 cm). In flight, the bird looks enormous, with a six-foot wingspan. Calls: The call of the Great Blue Heron is a deep, hoarse croak." (naturemappingfoundation.org) 1) they're local, 2) don't seem as predatory as a hawk (??), 3) blue herons are peaceful and can hold their own.
Local birds, a hawk mascot could have features of a redtail hawk which we actually see around here
Horses are regal animals and Knights are protectors and committed to their homeland.
All of these mascots are of people moving towards new adventures, commanding their own destinies, and embracing their futures with confidence, passion, and excitement.
Something like this, but with friendlier expression!
