Update April 5: As part of the rebuild project, school administrators will be looking for input from students, parents/guardians and staff about what Raleigh Hills represents to the community now and in the future. The reimagining will include a new mission statement and possibly a new mascot and new school colors, depending on community feedback.
Original Project: Raleigh Hills Elementary School dates back to 1927, making it the second oldest school in the district. The steam pipes are failing, the roof is in poor condition and the sanitary waste system is not adequate for the size of the school. In addition, much of the building does not meet current seismic standards and is at risk of partial or full collapse in the event of an earthquake. The new building will address all of those issues.
The rebuild is being funded through the 2014 and 2022 Bond. The new school will be home to pre-K through 5th grade classes. Once rebuilt, it will offer a more spacious, functional and modern educational environment. Demolition is scheduled to start in summer 2024, and the rebuilt school will open in fall 2026. During the rebuild, students will attend Greenway Elementary School.
Periodically, we'll be posting below to get your feedback on design decisions. Please follow this project (top of page, right side), so you're alerted to those opportunities.
